BTCC – Round Three – Thruxton
BTCC – Thruxton
Adams performance back on track.
This weekend was an important chance for FAI sponsored Adam Morgan to pull back the much deserved top spot on the 2016 standings. The perfect weather at Thruxton set the scene for an exciting third round and fresh start for Adam after not finishing the last race at Donington Park.
Race 1 turned in to frantic change in lead positions from the start, resulting in multiple contacts, punctures and debris being strewn across the track with Adam’s A-Class rocketing through and gaining the lead. The race had to be called early at 11 laps after the build-up of incapacitated cars and vehicle debris scattered on the track was deemed unsafe by the Thruxton marshals. Once the red flags were waved and Adam crossed the line at the end of Lap 11, Adam had achieved his second race win of the season; the only driver to do so.
After the previous win, Adam had to deal with the burden of maximum success ballast weight in Race 2. After holding a strong position for most of the race, the lead was taken from the A-Class driver by Andrew Jordan on lap 11, followed by an overtake from Rob Collard’s BMW. Fighting against the excess vehicle weight and the other top contending cars, Adam managed to hold his position of 3rd place until crossing the line.
Race 3 proved to be another all-important success for Adam after landing 3rd place behind Mat Jackson and Matt Neal respectively.
After this weekends hard work, Adam was left with three podium finishes and an amazing jump up the overall standings. Adam now sits comfortably in 3rd position, trailing only 3 points behind the top two challengers.
We wish the best of luck to Adam and his team for the next 2016 BTCC Round, hosted at Oulton Park on the 4-5th June.
