FAI Sponsor FIM Speedway Finale – Torun, Poland
FAI Automotive was invited by the FIM Speedway Grand Prix to become event partners for the finale of the championship; held in the medieval city of Torun – Poland. FAI’s continued support of motorsport around the world pays homage to the companies roots in British motor racing.
FIM Speedway racing started in the 1920’s, but has gathered in popularity in recent decades, making it one of the fastest-growing motor sports. It’s easy to see why this thrilling, fast-paced competition is so popular as it features specially adapted bikes hurtling around a dirt track at speeds of up to 120 KPH. The daring riders are some of the bravest around as these 500cc bikes have no braking system and competitors are put through a torturous set of 23 heats per race.
FAI proudly sponsored the most anticipated event of the Speedway racing calendar, where thousands of devoted fans took their seats to watch battle commence in the arena. Spectators were not disappointed as their favourite rider sped around the circuit, almost completely sideways at points.
The winner of the final round was pipped-to-the-post for the championship crown by a mere 2 points. Leon Madsen of Denmark took the glory of the last race, but it still wasn’t enough to beat the young Polish rider Bartosz Zmarzlik who scored well throughout the season. Well done Bartosz!
FAI’s love of the sport was spread amongst some local distributers who were lucky enough to accompany FAI staff for the day of racing. Managing Director - Sean Walker and Sales Director - Nenad Stamenkovic, who were also in attendance would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that joined them; making the event a fantastic day.
