Intense WSBK Bout: Assen – Holland

Chaz and Marco score valuable points in Assen, securing positions 2nd and 3rd respectively in the championship.

The boys in red fought hard over this weekend, the forth round of the WSBK, where they faced crippling technical issues. Marco again suffered stability problems and Chaz was hindered by rear wheel vibration in race 2.

The weekend started positively, with the whole team producing some impressive lap times in the free-practice sessions. A demonstration of what the team is capable of when unimpeded by mechanical gripes.

Race 1 saw Davies go from a third row start and cut his way up the pack until he joined the leading group. Up against an extremely determined set of riders, Chaz held his nerve to secure a 3rd place on the podium.

Marco used his extensive experience and talent to wield the troublesome Panigale R, holding strong, he finished in 6th.

Michael Rinaldi, the junior element of the team, started with gusto however this was not to be his race. He crashed out early in the race, on corner 7 but thankfully wasn’t hurt. A harsh but important learning curve.

Both Chaz and Marco struggled in the early stages of the second race with both riders going wide and momentarily leaving the tarmac. The riders fought back finish 5th and 7th respectively.

Rinaldi, still finding his feet in this highly competitive, gained some valuable experience, coming in 12th position.

Next stop, Imola in Italy 11 – 13th May.
