It’s hard to believe that the 1 series launched almost 20 years ago, back in 2004. BMW realised that they had to replicate the winning formula of excellent chassis control and fun factor; and they didn’t fail to deliver.
Of course, there were a few areas that let the side down a little, such as the cramped rear seats and some quality issues. This didn’t deter buyers from ordering the baby-Bimmer. Besides, its much more important to assign space for a 6-cylinder rear-wheel drive setup than passenger leg room, isn’t it?
The sales of the 130i were on the low side compared to the highly popular diesels on offer, especially so with the introduction of the Efficient dynamics’ engine added from 2007.
With the first generation running until 2012, there is still good demand for parts and with shared components throughout the BMW models, many are a great stock items.
