WSBK R3: Next Stop Aragon, Spain
Missed the start of the WSBK championships? Perhaps you’ve been on a long trek in the Andes, or been canoeing through Borneo or just busy at work. Whatever the reason, here’s a little recap of what’s been happening for team Aruba.it, ahead of round 3.
The opening round was held at the picturesque Phillip Island circuit, 87miles south of Melbourne, Australia. Marco Melandri dominated the entire weekend, producing a spectacular double win, the second of which was won by the narrowest of margins.
Chaz joined Marco on the podium, coming in third place in race 1 but unfortunately crashed out on lap 12 during race 2.
Thailand hosted the second round and this time it was Chazs’ turn to steal the limelight, securing third in race 1 and blasting the competition away in race 2, taking 1st place and the fastest lap time of the day.
Coming in to round 3 (Aragon – Spain), the boys will be joined by the junior element of the team, Michael Rinaldi. The STK1000 champion is revved up ahead of his WSBK debut, having had 2 days of positive testing sessions.
Action starts for team Aruba.it on Friday, where they'll take advantage of the all important free practice session ahead of the main event. In usual fashion, the two competition races are spread over Saturday and Sunday (14th & 15th).

Here’s what the team had to say in the lead-up to the third round:
“We've put in the work and I feel good on the bike. The win in Thailand was really important and it gives me a lot of confidence, because it's always been a tough track for us… I had a lot of good races at Aragon: first podium, first double…I'm ready for the battle” – Chaz
“Aragon is track that I really enjoy and I had good results there in several occasions in the past… I believe we can fix the issues that limited us (in Thailand) and challenge for the win or at least the podium once again” – Marco
"I'm really happy and ready to make my WorldSBK debut…In the tests, we consistently improved the base setup and the feeling with the bike and the team. We just have to get out on track and find out where we're at” – Michael
Now you’re up to date, you can sit back and enjoy the weekend of racing. You’re welcome!
