Engine of the month

Novembers EOTM is a bit of a curveball in the form of the Hyundai/Kia 2.5 CRDi, fitted initially to early 2000’s models but still utilised in models around the world today – believe it or not!

This powerplant became a staple for the Korean brand where some heavy lifting was involved, and a torquey diesel was required. Admittedly the 100 HP versions needed a good hill to run down to overtake even a cyclist however the later engines were tuned to various outputs culminating in a 170 HP version which was much better to drive.

Depending on where you are in the world, this will dictate where you’ll find the D4CB however, it was fitted to a multitude of vehicles; including popular models such as the Sorento, H-100, i800 and iLoad.

The D4CB may be old now and a bit of a lemon but is far from forgotten!… FAI still has you covered
